Stevie

StevieHi! I’m Stevie. I’m a 30-something mom to three girls, S (’05), C (’09), and A (’11). Our house can be a bit of a nut house: it is loud, covered in pink, and you never know when you might step on a Barbie shoe (those things hurt!) But I can’t imagine it any other way.

I have my bachelor’s and master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education. I taught for 5 years in a public school. When S (’05) was 2, I got my dream job–becoming a stay at home mom. As much as I enjoyed teaching, for as long as I can remember all I really wanted to do was be a mom, and I feel blessed every day that I am able to stay home with the girls. Recently, I have gone back to work part time, teaching at the church pre-school that C (’09) and A (’11) attend. I love it! It provides an opportunity for me to really teach and love on some kiddos, but still have the benefits of being home with my girls.

My husband and I met in college…love at first sight? I don’t know, but I did know the first time that I met him he was someone I wanted to spend time with, he was so driven! I couldn’t believe he knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life and he was only 19. And guess what ~ he is doing it! He is an amazing husband and father. He has a crazy schedule, working 24 hours shifts every few days. It can be tough, but we manage and I think we are doing a pretty good job. We are opposite in many ways. While I am a bit shy around new people, he has never met a stranger. We kid all the time that he should run for mayor, it doesn’t matter where we go, he is always shaking hands and kissing babies. I’m a worrier; he calms me down and gently reminds me who is ultimately in control. And bonus, he is an awesome cook (I am terrible)!

Our days are often busy, shuffling around from one activity to another. I am trying my best to find that balance of providing opportunities for the girls without over-scheduling them. It is a work in progress. I love shopping, especially for a good bargain! I look forward to the day at least one of my girls shares my love of shopping. I also love spending time with my family, a good book, chocolate, and all things Disney.
