GenaMy name is Gena. I am a mother of 2 amazing girls (E ’08 and N ’11). My husband and I have been together for many years and married since 2006. We both work full-time. I am a legal assistant and love my job!

I grew up without a father figure and my mother raised 4 children on her own since I was three years of age. My mother has inspired me in so many ways. No matter how tough times were, she did what she could take make warm memories for us and to make things fun. Being a mother is challenging, we all know that, but oh my goodness the rewards far outweigh the challenges.

I had a rough go of it growing up. Often times I was the odd kid out and made fun of. I admittedly have some deep rooted self-esteem issues that have stemmed from this, but I have never let it get me down too much. I just always told myself “it’s their loss for not getting to know me.”

I did not attend college, but worked extremely hard to get where I am today. I am very grateful to all those who gave me a chance so that I could gain the valuable experiences that I have.

Friends are very important to me. I am a “fixer”. I don’t like when my friends are sad or hurt and do what I can to try to cheer them up. I also do the same with strangers. I truly believe that you can turn someone’s day around with just a smile.
